Launched in 2013, PRYSE Academy is a free 3-week summer program for immigrant and refugee youth living in Pittsburgh, PA. At PRYSE, students attend English classes every morning, participate in creative expression workshops, play soccer and other camp games, and create their own storytelling project. PRYSE Academy culminates into a Final Showcase where students present the personal storytelling they create over the course of the 3-week program.Learn more about PRYSE Academy by visiting our website and Facebook page!
ARYSE believes that supporting immigrant and refugee families is a critical part of creating an environment where our students feel welcome and celebrated. ARYSE partners with local, state-wide, and national advocacy organizations that stand for policies that promote immigrant inclusion. Locally, ARYSE also advocates for refugee and immigrant inclusion by connecting youth with mainstream out-of-school-time programs.
In the fall of 2017, ARYSE will launch after-school and weekend programs for youth who are recent arrivals to Pittsburgh and PRYSE attendees. Participants will engage in facilitated dialogue sessions about their shared experiences, academic tutoring and mentoring, and creative expression workshops.
